In traditional Chinese culture, people like to take some good-meaning words and use them for significant events, such as lunar new year, weddings, festivals, or even new shop openings, to express their best wishes to their families and friends. My graphic designer friend Xiangxiang from Japan redesigns everyday objects using patterns and Chinese characters 汉字 originating from the cross-culture ties that took place in Shanghai during the Cultural Revolution.
